I am no longer affiliated with Crossfit and will no longer be posting on this blog. The gym is still in operation and all information will be posted on Facebook at Wadsworth Fitness!

I guess it is about time to update the blog...since it has been 6 months!

It was a busy May and June for me, with Craig and John in France and our wonderful French exchange student joining us for the summer when they got back. I was also distracted by chickens.

We had a fun summer in the gym, and had a rocking good-bye party for Ryan, Jon and Kate.
BTW, Ryan and his lovely wife D are expecting a little Ryan in February, and yes you can expect I will take a day or two off shortly after he arrives to go meet him!

Karen and Stephanie had a GREAT first season at Highland Games! Both took at least 3rd in a couple of games.

We have a few new members this fall, and continue to make people stronger and healthier.

I will probably be transitioning this content to a FB page soon.

My photography pursuits of late have not been gym related, and the ones that are, I have been posting on FB, but here are a couple!

Kudos to those who did Murph this afternoon. Freedom is not free.

Ok, I might be guilty of gratuitous shirtless pictures of ripped guys.

On a more serious note...
I'm not a "ra-ra" crossfitter, and we didn't have a big event promoting our gym, but I admire the tribute to Lt. Murphy, who is just one example of how our freedom is not free, and on Memorial Day we need to remember that. Almost (June 6) 70 years ago, on a beach in Normandy, many very young American men gave their lives so that we have the freedom to bitch about inane stuff. Please thank a Veteran and take a moment to appreciate those who never made it home.

Busted out the prowler for this evening's fun and entertainment!

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend! The weather is supposed to be great! I will not be here Monday morning, but the gym will be open regular hours in the afternoon. Jon and Tim are going to do Murph. Scaled versions will be available. And please remember to thank a veteran, and pause to give a thought to those who died for our freedom!

It is so nice to play outside!

We had a great little developmental Highlander event this past Sunday! Karen and Stephanie put on a pretty amazing performance! Matt Hand of http://www.strongandfar.com/ was here as well as some other seasoned Highland Games and Highlander athletes. Sara Fleming and Dave Vanskike of http://www.practicalstrengthfortrainers.com/ organized and ran the meet. We had so much fun, we want to do some more! Chuck Livingston and Mike Landrich of the Buffalo Heavies were also integral to a successful weekend and are willing to help me organize another meet. A Highlander is a mix of Highland Games events and Strongman events. If you are reasonably strong and want to have some fun, come on out! We will be having another backyard meet end of July or early August, perhaps followed by a Crossfit Century. We have a few who want to tackle that task! Details to follow!

So.....

Yeah, these two were here last night.

I sure hope the long range weather forecast picks up a bit! Amanda's graduation on the weekend of the 10th and our Highlander on the 17th! Will this polar vortex ever end?? At least it isn't snowing, right??

Apparently the "Winter that wouldn't end" has!!! What a joy to be outside! Human Tim reports that the running trail is good, so start wearing clothes and shoes you don't mind getting muddy. This weekend

I will be out of town this weekend from Friday afternoon through Monday. Gyms hours will remain unchanged, however, because Casey will be here Friday and Monday afternoons and Connor will be here Saturday and Monday morning. Train consistently while I'm gone and I will be back Tuesday morning!

Back in business!

I'm feeling great and will be back in the gym starting tomorrow. Since most of you have taken a couple of weeks off, we will have to be careful you don't get sore!

Upcoming events:

Thanksgiving week the gym will be closed Thanksgiving day and the day after. Also that week, on Monday (11/25) the gym will not be open until 9 AM.

The weekend of Dec.6-9 I will be out of town. I will ask Casey/Jason/Connor to cover, but only if people sign up to visit. They pretty much sat here by themselves last week.

The gym will be closed on the afternoon of Dec. 24 and Christmas day. We may do one workout on Christmas day depending on interest.

I will be out of town Dec. 30-January 1 to attend Ryan's wedding in Cleveland.

Friday, Dec. 20 we will do the "12 Days" workout and happy hour. Mark it on your calendar!

I'm home, I'm actually feeling pretty good

And I can see out the window that hardly any of you are showing up for your workouts. Hmmmm.....

Update on the schedule!

The gym will not be open Thursday morning 10/31, but will be open that afternoon.

Schedule for the last 2 weeks of October

As some of you know, I am scheduled to have surgery on October 23 and will need a little time off afterwards. Casey, Jason, and Connor have kindly agreed to cover the gym while I am out. Please take advantage of having a different trainer take a look at you! A fresh pair of eyes can see things we might have been missing.

Monday, September 2, 2013

Ahhh...September!

It cools off a bit, colors start to change, and we all let go of the delicious debauchery of summer and get back to the comfort of a schedule. We will miss our students who went back to school and welcome the ones coming back! I love living in a college town! This is a bittersweet September for us. This is our last first day of school. John is a senior!

Expect a lot of outdoor workouts because we have to get them in before the snow flies and we are forced inside for many dark months.

Of note: Some of us will be competing at the WNPF Powerlifting meet in Buffalo on Sept. 15. I will not be competing due to this pesky abdominal issue but I'm going to be there cheering our people on! No pressure Courtney, but yeah, 405 :)

There are several new people, so introduce yourself and make everyone feel welcome. We can't leave that job to Meri and Zoe. They are dogs and somewhat unreliable.

The ladders have been great, but it is time to change program! I will be transitioning most of you to a new program in the next few weeks!

We need a picture, so why not Dave? Good luck at Naz our friend!
